John Hamilton Mcneil

John “Johnny” Hamilton Mc Neil, 64, of Newnan, passed away on December 17 after a corageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Katherine H and Howard A. McNeil, Jr. He is survived by his older brothers, Steve (Mary), Pat, and Andy (Barbara), multiple cousins, several nieces and nephews, his close friend Dale Jensen, and his little dog, Izzy.

Johnny was interested in keeping up with all family members as well as the many friends he had at his residence, Wisteria Gardens. He had a keen interest in history, music and all types of movies. Most importantly, all that knew Johnny knew of his kindness, caring, and loving manor. He was affectionately known as a gentle giant.

John was a graduate of Newnan High School and La Grange College and served honorably in the US Army. He was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church and, previously, a member of the Newnan First United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held on January 7 at 1pm at the Hopewell United Methodist Church in Tryone, GA. There will be a reception for family and friends following the service.
