John Jeremiah Lochridge, age 43, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024. John was born November 17, 1980 to the late Gail Ann Lochridge. Prior to his illness, he was employed for two decades with Thomas Concrete. John was a lifelong resident of Cartersville and was a proud Purple Hurricane. An easy-going guy, John was known for his quick wit and his big smile. He always had a humorous response to any comment or situation. Music was John's passion. He had an amazing ear for mixing and mastering music and spent hours playing drums and guitar and producing and recording music. There was nothing John loved more than a jam session with his friends. John also enjoyed the game of golf and spent a year at the driving range before ever playing his first round, saying he wanted to know how to hit the ball before he worried about playing. He played as often as he could and also enjoyed watching televised matches. John was even successful in making a golf enthusiast of his beloved Nanny.
John is preceded in death by his mother, Gail Lochridge; grandparents, Paul and Janie (Ballard) Lochridge; and cousin, Kevin Ingram. He is survived by his aunts and uncles, Betty Sue and Hubert Ingram; Daniel and Paige Lochridge; cousins, Amy, Mike, J.P. Heater; Katie, Zach, Reed, Ridge Claxton; Betsy Lochridge; Gracie and Matthew Greene, in addition to a number of extended family members. John also leaves behind a friend closer than a brother, Don Massey Jr., his wife Melanie, and their daughters Everly and Isla.
A celebration of life service is planned for Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1 :00 pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 31 Douglas Street, in Cartersville. The family will receive friends from 11 :00 am until the time of the service. A private burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville.
