John Valentine Anderson, 67, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away at Riverwood Senior Living on Thursday, September 21, 2023, after a courageous battle with Parkinsons and Lewy Body Dementia.
He was born in Rome, Georgia on May 16, 1956, and was the son of George Robert and Jean Valentine Anderson. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy Wilhoit Anderson, and his brothers, Everett Anderson (Judy), William Peter Anderson and brother-in law, Terry Ledbetter.
John graduated from East Rome High School in 1974 and received a Business Administration Degree from Floyd Jr. College. Over an extensive career, he served as a General Manager at Wendy’s, Burger King, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, and McDonald’s. He owned and operated two Dairy King Restaurants in Rome, Ga. and co-owned one in Cedartown, Ga.
John loved animals and had a special dog named Chaco that he adored. He loved chocolate, the sun and traveling near and far to enjoy beautiful beaches with Nancy. His team was the Georgia Bulldogs and he and Nancy were avid fans. He could tell you anything you ever wanted to know about the DAWGS and even in his last few days, responded to a “Go Dawgs” with a fist bump. He loved music, especially from the 70’s and 80’s and loved listening to The Eagles, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney, and Chicago. John was a kind and gentle man who loved the people in his life and missed his wife, Nancy, terribly after her passing almost three years ago.
John is survived by his daughter Brittainy Anderson Walker (Rob), his grandson, Dante Walker, his stepdaughter, Ashley Barber (Elias), his brother, George Anderson (Marilyn), his sisters, Hazel Anderson, Avis Anderson King (Sam), Edie Anderson Hope (Phelps), and Joan Anderson Ledbetter. He is survived by numerous special aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as his former wife, Patti Anderson, mother and grandmother to John’s daughter and grandson.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 14th at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, 2549 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Ga. 30165. Reverend Alan Fuller, Chaplain, Heyman Hospice Care, will be officiating.
