John William Kendrick, 72, passed away March 28th, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 14th, 1947, in Daytona Beach, Florida. His parents were the late William E. And Mary Bush Kendrick. John is survived by his wife, Delores "Dee" Officer Kendrick, one daughter, Melissa Kendrick DeJong, her husband Nicholas "Nic" DeJong and their two children, Falcon and Emma. He is also survived by three brothers; David (Dawn) Lokey and Thomas (Marilyn) Lokey, Virgil Kendrick, one sister, Frances K. Duke, and several nieces and nephews. John was a graduate of Florida Military School in Deland, Florida in 1965 where he lettered in swimming. He served in the United States Air Force from December 02, 1965 until April 2, 1969. He retired from the UPS after thirty years with a Safety Work Record. For twelve years, John coached church and county league soft ball for girls. John was a Boy Scout leader for eight years. His hobbies were golfing and gardening. He was a friend to all and a member of West Cobb YMCA where he made many friends. John was active in his church, Powder Springs FMUC and was a faithful worker in the Car Care Ministry. A celebration of John's life will be held at Powder Springs FUMC on April 13, 2019 at 3:00 PM. A graveside service, for family only, will be held on April 14, at 1:00 PM at Mountain View Park Cemetery, Marietta, Georgia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mayo Clinic in memory of John William Kendrick.
