Joyce Klock Wightman

October 26, 1934 — October 28, 2024

Joyce Klock Wightman, 90, of Camillus, NY passed away Monday October 28 at the Grande Sterling Estates assisted living facility in Marietta, GA. She grew up in Fayetteville, NY, was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, and went on to graduate from Syracuse University. Joyce was blessed with many talents including designing and knitting custom clothing, flower arranging and table setting through the local garden club, creating pressed flower pictures, and she was also an award winning quilter. Her quilting talents and accomplishments lead her to open a retail store in Camillus during the 1980’s where she taught quilting classes and provided fabric and quilting supplies for members of the central New York quilting community. She enjoyed many friendships with fellow quilters, and by the end of her quilting career she had amassed a collection of over 150 handmade quilts which have now been passed on to family members, close friends, and donated to various organizations.

In the 1950’s she found summer employment at a resort on Big Moose Lake in the Adirondack Mountains where she was the first of three generations of Wightmans to spend their summers working at the resort. She would meet her husband (Henry Wightman, Jr.) at Big Moose Lake and later spend summers at the family camp enjoying the outdoors, wildlife, and beautiful

scenery the mountains and lake provided with friends and family.

She is predeceased by her mother, Mabel Mapstone Klock and father Harold Klock of Fayetteville, NY, her sister Barbara Klock Lyons of Canandaigua, NY and her husband Henry B. Wightman, Jr. of Camillus, NY.

She is survived by her daughter Karen (Kip) Bruyn of Plymouth, VT: two sons Henry (Debbie) Wightman of Marietta, GA, and David (Christy) Wightman of Carmel, IN: four grandchildren Jessica Bruyn, Emily (Phil Bretschneider) Bruyn, Daulton (Sue) Wightman, and Matthew Wightman.

Those wishing to honor her memory can make a donation in her name to the Maxwell Memorial Library at 14 Genesee St, Camillus, NY 13031.
