It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Julia Ellen Calyer Hill on November 7, 2024. Julia was born in Los Gatos, California on December 31, 1969, to William Snyder Calyer and Jennifer Catherine Neuman. She spent her early years in San Jose and Los Altos, CA. In 1999 she graduated from Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena with a degree in Early Childhood Education. She began her career in San Fransisco, CA. She loved the city and spent many years there. In 2008, she moved to Decatur, Georgia. She continued to work in early childhood education, with her most recent time spent at Turning Sun School. She took great pride in the outdoor garden program that she developed there. Throughout her career she touched the lives of many children and their families. Her happy place was in nature, and she embraced all the beauty the state has to offer, hiking many of its trails, visiting many waterfalls and canoeing its rivers. While out in nature or sitting on her balcony she could name the birds as she listened to each of their songs.
Julia was loved dearly by her family and friends. She is survived by her mother, Jennifer Neuman; husband, Marshall Hill and her two beautiful daughters Summer and Willow along with their father, Ron Harris. She loved her daughters more than anything in this world and her light continues to shine bright in both. She was the younger sister of Michael Calyer, Thomas Calyer (Linda) and Elizabeth Ross (Stewart). Loving aunt to Deanna Brundage (Jason); Tom Calyer (Bekah) their children Will and Jack; Annie Ross and Greg Ross. She was also blessed with many cousins in both New York and California.
She fought a brave two-year battle with cancer. Throughout this time her positive attitude never wavered, and her light never dimmed. Her loving husband, Marshall was by her side thought-outher battle, as were her dear friends Rebecca and Brooke. No words can express how much she will be missed by all those that loved her. She will forever be in all our hearts.
Friends, join us for her Memorial Service on Sunday, Nov 24 at 3:00 pm at Oak House located at 2855 Washington St, Avondale Estates, GA 30002.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to support the future education of Summer and Willow. Contributions can be made through their GoFundMe campaign Help Julia's Daughters Achieve Their Goals. Your generosity during this difficult time is deeply appreciated and will help ensure a bright future for these young girls.
