Princess Karviina Deylii peacefully made her ascension to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 87 years of age. She was born 'Ruby Barrett' on August 24, 1931 in the Bronx, NY and was the daughter of Frank Barrett Sr. and Sadie Irving. She had five siblings: a twin sister, Ruth Barrett-Hicks, and four brothers: Frank Jr., Harry, Earnest, and Alvin Barrett; who are all no longer with us. After her solemnization ceremony to her then husband, Prince Kaiim Deylii, in February of 1954, many years later Ruby would be given her new 'temple name' Karviina by her mother-in-law Tze Taoma (Mysikiitta FaSenntao) who was known for blessing her family and temple members with spiritual names. This led to Karviina's eventual official name change. Karviina, also known as Mesi and Maganiita, is survived by her five children: Kaiima FaSenntao-MacKenzie, Badu FaSenntao, Amentitii Deylii, Adarella Deylii, and Eterte FaSenntao. Her fifteen grandchildren are: Nekaskii Deylii, Marc MacKenzie, Daiva MacKenzie, Kellan MacKenzie, Jamil FaSenntao, Otin Darial FaSenntao, Tonii FaSenntao, Saniita FaSenntao, Iela Sawyer, Latia Deylii-Buapim, Siroya Deylii, Jaseyda Morales, Kenneth Hayden, Siidra Hayden, and Atiira FaSenntao. Her eight great-grandchildren are: Joel Vasquez (17), Jayden Vasquez (15), Inaiyla Velez (9), Isaac Velez (7), Zuri MacKenzie (9), Lilyeth Buapim (3), Jaton FaSenntao (3), and Tavious FaSenntao (2). Karviina was raised in the Bronx, NY where she graduated from Evander Childs High School. She would later move to White Plains, NY to continue her education and received her associates degree from The Westchester Business Institute. Later, she would achieve graduating with her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Mercy College. Karviina held education to a very high standard and always encouraged her children and grandchildren to achieve the highest level of academic excellence. It was her most pride and joy attending graduation ceremonies and other celebratory events for her family. Karviina worked for the Westchester Medical Center and was a county employee for over thirty years upon retiring from the City of White Plains; where she worked closely with the mayor. From there, she moved on to live in Fishkill, NY, Newburgh, NY, and then spent her last seven years living in Acworth, GA. She loved family get togethers, enjoyed caring for her plants, and had a keen eye for fashion. In addition, she was an outstanding crocheter and was fortunate to have passed that inspiration and talent on to many family members; including her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Karviina was a gentle and kind soul. She was such a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Princess Karviina will be forever missed and loved by all.
