Kenneth Edward (Jake) Snyder died Tuesday, November 5, 2024 in
Marietta. GA. He was 89. He is survived by his wife of 64 years,
Frances (Heilman) and three children, Steve (Lora), Cindy Bordas, and
Ken (Ellen). He was recently predeceased by son-in-law Bob Bordas.
Seven grandchildren: Kaitlyn Snyder & Kelly (James) Palmer, Emily &
Luke Bordas and Chris & Joey (Demi) Snyder & Stephanie (Brody) Binder.
Plus two recent great grandchildren, Thomas Snyder & Bennett Binder.
Originally from Carnegie, PA, he grew up with three sisters and five
brothers. He attended Saint Joseph's grade school and Saint Luke's
high school, where he was a popular, accomplished student-athlete.
Jake served in the US Army as a dental assistant and then had a long
career at J&L Steel and then Republic Steel.
Jake enjoyed coaching his sons' Little League teams and served in
leadership roles in the Sheraden Baseball Association. Jake was a huge
sports fan - following all his beloved Pittsburgh teams. He also
enjoyed and excelled in bowling and golf leagues. He loved to work in
his garden - and share the vegetables. One year's harvest resulted in
a potent batch of cherry wine that was the drink of choice at a
neighborhood party that was discussed for years. In 1998, Jake and
Fran retired to Marietta, GA, where they made many new friends and
enjoyed playing Euchre and Double Pinochle at the East Cobb Senior
Center.
A private burial will be held in the Georgia National Cemetery.
Thanks to the diligent staff at Brickmont at Woodstock who aided in
making his final days restful and comfortable.
