Kevin Darrell Young

Kevin Darrell Young was born May 13, 1980, in Long Beach, California. He passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2021, at age 41, in Fayetteville, Georgia, where he lived and worked. Kevin is survived by his beloved children: Xavier Young, Lucas Young, Layla Young, Kevin Chavez, and his regarded stepson Josiah Robinson. Kevin is also survived by his brothers: Kenny Young and Roberto Santos, sister Doreina Santos, his mother Joyce Young Kelly, grandfather Robert D. Young, and many cousins and friends. Kevin grew up in Long Beach, California where many generations of his family had lived. He was always industrious and hard working. He began his own lawn mowing service when he was 10 years old. Since he was the oldest of four children he always helped out with his younger siblings. After a family move in 1991 to Rancho Cordova, California, Kevin attended Cordova Gardens Elementary, Mills Middle School, and Cordova High School. While at Cordova High Kevin was in a career training course where he worked at the county vehicle yard learning to repair and service all kinds of county vehicles and equipment. He was also on the Cordova High football team and he graduated high school in 1998. Kevin always loved sports and the outdoors. As a child he was on youth baseball, football, and bowling teams, and he enjoyed attending LA Dodger games. Kevin loved BMX bicycle racing and he won many trophies for BMX competitions he participated in as a teen and young man. As an adult, Kevin loved riding motorcycles and other recreational vehicles. Kevin moved to Georgia at age 19½ where he got married and began his life long career in wall texturing and other home construction skills he learned from his career mentor, Kevin Conklin, of KC Textures. Kevin had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and easily made friends and acquaintances. Kevin will be sorely missed. Kevin will be laid to rest on October 25, 2021, at 1 pm, in Rolling Hills Memory Gardens, Acworth, Georgia.
