Linda Jacquelyn Byrd

March 29, 1947 — April 9, 2025

Linda Jacquelyn Byrd was born on March 29, 1947 at Fort McPherson in East Point, Georgia and passed away peacefully on April 9, 2025 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Linda grew up in East Point, GA and graduated from Headland High School in 1965. She was loved by everyone who knew her, and especially her husband of over 56 years, Carl Byrd, whom she married in 1968. Linda lived a life of compassion, integrity, and selfless giving. She loved spending time with her family, and thoroughly enjoyed seeing everyone at family reunions and holiday gatherings. She was a devoted wife and mother of two children, Denise and Daniel.

Linda retired from Fulton County schools, and loved working as a teaching assistant at Conley Hills Elementary School and Palmetto Elementary School. She was a positive role model for countless children in her kindergarten, first grade, and second grade classes. She treated every child as someone special, whether they were a student in her classroom, the son or daughter of a neighborhood friend, or a new addition to her family. Linda was kind and genuine with everyone she met.

Linda loved cheering for the Atlanta Braves and the Georgia Bulldogs. She also stayed busy taking care of her family, cooking, gardening, handling household responsibilities, and keeping an immaculate home. She cared for many pets throughout the years, and always made their lives safe and enjoyable. Her love of Elvis Presley was well known by those who knew her best. In the later years of her life, Linda especially enjoyed listening to the music of her youth.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Newt J. Casey and Bernice F. Veal Casey, and brothers Jimmy Casey and Rudy Casey (Denise Casey). She is survived by her husband, Carl Byrd, daughter Denise Wilcox (Philip Wilcox), son Daniel Byrd (Denise Levy), grandsons Jonce Wilcox and Jack Wilcox, and sister Nancy Alford (Mike Alford). Linda will forever be remembered by her extended family and many dear friends.
