Ms. Linda G. Whitley age 71 of 24 Barnsley Church Road, Kingston, Georgia passed away peacefully on Friday, January 10, 2020, in her home surrounded by family. Ms. Whitley was born on June 24, 1948, in Marietta, Georgia, the daughter of the late Thomas Otis Smith and the late Charlotte Muriel Davis Smith of Canton. Linda was a legal secretary in the Cartersville area for several years, followed by the title of Management of a landfill in Emerson, Georgia for ten years. Linda enjoyed buying Antiques and rarities and then selling them at her Granny's Attic at the old flea market on Cobb Parkway in Marietta. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, step-mother, and step-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband James Whitley of Cartersville, step-granddaughter, Kristi Thompson of Cartersville. Surviving Ms. Whitley are two sisters, Treva Stroud (Ronny Stroud brother-in-law} of Acworth, Kathy Brown of Adairsville, four nephews, Andrew Stroud of Acworth, Kenneth Stroud of Buford, Troy Smith of Jasper and Derrick Brown of Cartersville, three great-nephews and great-niece, Olivia, Gavin and Abigail, two step-daughters, Jamie Whitley Adams of Cartersville, Kim Whitley Barnett of Texas, one stepgrandson, Joshua DeBoard of Cartersville, two great step-grandchildren, Rilynn and Kynsli, many other relatives and friends also survive. A close family Memorial will be held in Celebration of Linda's life at a later date. Leaf Cremation of Acworth, Georgia is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the St. Jude Children's Cancer Research Hospital.
