Louise Schroeder Branham of Rome GA, passed away on January 27th, 2024.
Louise was born on April 10, 1955 in Rome, GA. to the late Robert J Schroeder and Berrien C Schroeder.
Louise is survived by her husband, Bob, daughters Mary Katherine, Linley (John) Schmarkey, and grandson Jack of Atlanta. Louise is survived by a sister, Mary McDonald of RI, and brothers Charlie (Suzanne), John (Tracy), George, and Bill Schroeder all of Rome. She is also survived by numerous very loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Louise was known for her kindness, generosity, and overall big heart. While living in Atlanta and Rome throughout her life, she was always involved in her community, serving on various boards and committees for nonprofits and her church. Her love for reading was known by many. Her grandson, nieces and nephews never had to guess what their Christmas gifts would be - always a book (or many). While the end of her life was filled with medical challenges, her spirit never faded. She was courageous and positive until the end while also continuing to be a supporting friend, always caring about the wellbeing of others.
Per her request, she will be cremated and there be no formal services. A reception for family and friends to gather will be held Sunday, February 4th from 4pm-7pm at Schroeder’s New Deli on Broad Street in Rome, Georgia.
Louise asked that in her memory, donations please be made to DIGS (Developing Independence, Growth and Security, for adults with developmental challenges) Louise's brother Charlie and sister-in-law Suzanne are founding members of the organization which was started to support the entire Rome community of adults with developmental challenges, but especially their son and Louise's beloved nephew Cory. As a passionate advocate for DIGS mission, Louise served on the board and volunteered for many years. Please visit digsrome.org
