Marjory Whelchel Everett passed away on January 2, 2025. She would have been 96 later this January. She was born January 26, 1929 in Chattanooga, TN and was the daughter of the late Homer and Pauline Whelchel. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Livingston (Bob) Watson Everett, Jr. Marjory graduated from the University of Chattanooga majoring in Biology and also received a teaching certificate. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Bob was from St Simons Island, Ga and they returned there after college. They moved several times over the years and each time she made life-long friends through church, neighbors and other activities. Having three daughters, she was extremely involved in Girl Scouts and she received recognition for her 25 years of service. She also helped start a private Episcopal school, now called St Nicholas, while living in Chattanooga, TN where she was a teacher. She enjoyed church activities and was always involved with the PTA at her daughter’s schools. She had many interests: she loved sports, she played on the basketball team in high school, she loved to sew, crochet and experiment with all types of needlework. She also was an avid gardener and enjoyed nature to the fullest! Bob’s expertise was bookkeeping which he taught Marjory and she became employed by Glynn Teachers Federal Credit Union in Brunswick, Ga. She excelled and became head bookkeeper for ten years before she retired. To be closer to their girls, Marjory and Bob moved to Acworth, Ga. After Bob passed, she became involved in the Cobb County Senior Center where she met new friends, enjoyed ping pong and book clubs. She also became very involved with the Kennworth Golden K Kiwanis Club where she was the secretary for many years. She was a Daughter’s of the King member in the local Episcopal Church. Most importantly, the move to Acworth allowed her to be more involved with her grandsons activities. As Marjory shared after Bob’s passing, “I made a new life for myself”. Marjory loved family! Summers were spent going to the Whelchel family reunions in Cordele, Ga where she would be sure to talk to as many family members as possible. Also many Thanksgivings and Easters were spent with her sisters and their families on Lake Blackshear where her parents retired. Marjory also loved to share her special talents with others. One of these talents was making beautiful and intricate crocheted angels! Many family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances were the recipients of these treasures. In fact, at Christmas these angels adorn many Christmas trees! She is survived by her three daughters. Barbara Knysz and her husband Bob; Joanne Ressler; Kim Miller and her husband Jeff, along with their 2 sons: Ryan Miller and his wife Beth and their son Dallas; Jared Miller and his wife Madison and their son Scotty. She is also survived by her three sisters: Jeanette Langley, Polly Clodfelter and Mary Pierce Todd.
