Cartersville

Mark Lewis passed away February 16, 2025, in Cartersville, Georgia. His 10-year battle with cancer was over, and he passed away at home with dignity and knowing he was loved by many.

Mark was born on July 7, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia. He graduated from Forest Park High School in 1972, then later in 1973 was hired at Southern Bell as a lineman. After many years, the company became BellSouth, and he became a service technician. He loved his job and even got to experience working downtown during the Olympics. He retired from the company after working 38 years. His hobbies were building models from the WWI I era and music. He played the trumpet in junior high and high school. Then later played in the jazz band at Clayton State College in Morrow, Ga. He was very talented and enjoyed playing keyboards and drums. But his passion was his beloved Georgia Bulldogs. He also loved dogs, especially Golden Retrievers. He was the middle child of 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife Susan, mother Doris, son Scott Lewis, grandson Daniel, and two nieces and one nephew. He is preceded in death by his Dad, Charles, and his two brothers, Larry and Jeff. Mark requested not to have a service but rather have friends and family donate to the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine if desired. Mark was someone who shined from within and will be missed by many.
