Mary Jane Raming

August 30, 1925 — October 27, 2019

On October 27, 2019, after 94 years and a life fully lived “Jane” left our earth to dance with her beloved Charlie, and join her mother Nellie, sisters Nell and Ann, brothers Jay and Artie, and her grandson Jeff. She remained remarkably healthy late in life even though she was known to skimp on the main course to save room for dessert. Her children and friends were all blessed to share such a long and healthy life with her. She was an entrepreneur, an artist, and a romantic who reveled in the beauty of nature. She loved to socialize and dance and enjoyed many friends who were charmed by her ready smile and warm heart. Born at a time when the United States was reeling from the Great Depression, she helped her mother raise a family of five children. She met Charlie Raming, the love of her life, in 1946 and they built a life, a business and many homes together that took them from Cincinnati to Dayton to Indianapolis to Hilton Head and finally Woodstock and Canton Georgia. Along the way they had three children, played a lot of golf and made many friends. She and Charlie took their young family on many cross country treks to experience the beauty of America and later in life they went on their adventures to the Holy Land, France, England, Germany, Panama, Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii. Jane always had a copy of the “Power of Positive Thinking” and listened to Earl Nightingale’s tales of self-empowerment on the radio while making breakfast for the family. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and made that practice a priority in her life. She was attended in passing by her three children who talked late into the following night about the gifts their mother had left them: a love for travel and adventure, the pursuit of positivity and belief, and an appreciation of the beauty of nature. She will be forever and affectionately remembered by her remaining lifelong friends and family on this earth including June, Martha, and Alice, her 3 children; Linda Barnes, Mark Raming, and Julie Raming and their spouses, her 4 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren and their spouses who bore many great-grandchildren who might, as they grow older, recall brief moments of their time with a woman who had lived deep in the last century. The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Lake in Canton and the medical professionals at Northside Hospital Cherokee who provided sensitive, quality care for Jane in her last hours. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
