Nellie Darlene Vinson

Nellie Darlene Vinson, age 91 a long-time resident of Sikeston, MO passed away peacefully in Canton, GA on June 29, 2019 with family by her side. She was born August 7, 1927 in Clarksville, AR and was the daughter of John and Flossie Vangilder. She was preceded in death by her brother James Vangilder, son Sam Vinson, and two daughters Linda Elliott and Shirley Pearce. Nellie lived for over 80 years in Sikeston, MO. She was a long-time and well-known employee at the Elite and Norwood Dress Shops and the Gas Light Square. She was a championship-class golfer, avid bowler and an accomplished yodeler. She was known for her cooking and famous for her biscuits and her chicken and dumplings. Nellie is survived by 5 grandchildren, Kim (and Henry) Cohen of Woodstock, GA; Ken Elliott of Bartlett, TN; Kelly Elliott of Woodstock, GA; Trey (and Kim) Pearce of Batavia, IL; and Justin Depauw. She is also survived by 6 great grandchildren, Chase, Truman, Madison, Clifton, Abby and Brianna. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any local hospice care organization.
