Phillip “Phil” Wayne Thompson Sr, 67, of Floyd County Georgia, passed away on February 27, 2024, in Rome.
Phil, known for his compassionate and loving nature, was a devoted father and a generous soul who never hesitated to help others. He had a warm and welcoming personality, making friends wherever he went.
He was born on April 25, 1956, in Rome, Georgia, to Harold and Ruby Thompson. Phil is survived by his children: Wayne Thompson Jr., David (Maggie) Thompson, Samantha (Delores) Thompson, Megan (Mark) Young, Tyler (Grayson) Thompson, his beloved grandchildren: Gavin, Morgan, Weiland, Ean, Liam, Aaliyah, Clay, Maxon, Atticus, Avery, and Noah, his sister: Patsy Wilbanks, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Thompson, his mother, Ruby Thompson, his son, William "Jaybird" Thompson, and his siblings Gene, Dale, and Darrell Thompson.
Phil dedicated his career to being a supervisor and maintenance man, where his hard work and dedication left a lasting impact. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, traveling, and most of all, spending quality time with his children and grandchildren.
A celebration of life is set for Saturday April 27th at noon at The Pocket Recreational Area in Floyd County, weather permitting. Phil's memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
