Robert Douglas Moffat died July 1, 2024 from complications of Parkinsons Disease. Doug was born the first son of Miriam Jones Moffat and Robert Wells Moffat in Salt Lake City, Utah on October 16, 1946. After his father died in a mining accident he, his mother and his brother David moved to Florence, South Carolina.
He attended Christ School for Boys in Asheville North Carolina through most of high school but graduated high school from McClenaghan High School in Florence, South Carolina in 1964. He graduated from Clemson University in 1968 with an electrical engineering degree. He was an active member of the Numeral Society social fraternity later to become Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Doug would throughout the rest of his life connect with his fraternity brothers with whom he shared many great times. In 1970 he graduated from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He went to work on Wall Street. He later moved to Atlanta to work for Robinson Humphrey. While in Atlanta he married Dr Helen Selser and had a beautiful daughter, Eva. Doug worked as a part time consultant to be at home with his daughter and help Eva during her developmental years. She remained the focus of his attention during the later part of his life.
Doug spent a great deal of time attending Clemson events with his Jones family cousins. He was a kind soul and dearly loved by all of his family and friends.
He was a member of St Philips Cathedral and then Holy Innocents Church.
