Roger Lee Mccoy

Roger Lee McCoy of Gainesville, GA died on February 13, 2023 in his sleep - just one week shy of what would have been his 90th birthday. Roger was born in West Virginia on February 20, 1933 to Paul and Juanita McCoy.

He met his wife, the former Karin Happ in Savannah, GA, when they both worked for Travelers Insurance Company. They married in 1972 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Roger had an early career in radio, television and the stage. He was very charismatic and a true entertainer. He always had the biggest personality in the room and will be greatly missed.

Roger and Karin were avid sailors, and in retirement, lived for 30 years on their sailboat Edelweiss on Lake Lanier in Georgia, where they formed life-long friendships.

Roger is preceded in death by both of his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Karin, sister Barbara, four children (Denise, Susan, Janet and David) and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
