Ronald Henry Haffner

February 26, 1942 — April 6, 2024

Ronald Henry Haffner, known affectionately as Ron to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on the 6th of April, 2024, in Cartersville, Georgia. Born on February 26, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Henry and Mary Haffner, (deceased). Ron's journey through the years was always paved by good intentions and the strong support of his family and friends. Ron's early years in Pittsburgh laid the foundation for a life filled with laughter. He was a man who lived his life with a rare combination of humor and sarcasm. Those who knew him were often shaking their heads by his quick wit and his ability to make anybody laugh. It was this unique blend of traits that made him an unforgettable character in the lives of many. As a young man, Ron's passion for the great outdoors was evident. He could often be found hiking the trails of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Catskills or even the Poconos. His adventurous spirit was not confined to the land; the water called to him just as strongly. Boating became a cherished pastime, and he reveled in the freedom and tranquility it offered. Ron's love for speed and power was undeniable. Fast cars and even faster motorcycles were not just hobbies but extensions of his own spirited personality. He insisted on having the best of the best, and nothing less would do. It was this fervor and intensity that he brought into every aspect of his life. We all know he lived well beyond his years. Behind the adventurous exterior was a family who loved him. He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his brother, Dan Haffner; daughters, Rhonda C. Weidner and Darcy L. Haffner; his son, Mark A. Staples; and his daughter-in-law, Dr. Emma Atherton-Staples, who graciously tolerated my dad and provided him with outstanding care that I know for certain, gave us a few extra years. The bond he shared with Catherine R. Kindy, his first wife, was also a significant chapter that began a lifetime ago and gave him 2 daughters that would stress him out for life. Ron’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but the memories he created will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends. As we look to the mountains he loved so dearly, we are reminded of the indelible mark he has left on this world. His spirit, as enduring as the peaks he admired, will continue to guide us. Ron’s journey through life may have come to a close, but the stories of his life, the sounds of his laughter, and the blowing of his nose, will always be in the hearts of those who loved him.
