Sandra (Sandy) Ann Etherton ascended to her heavenly peace on January 18th, 2021 She was born February 20th, 1946 in Pickens County, Georgia to James Hardy Sutton and Iva Elizabeth Sutton. Sandy attended Dekalb College where she earned her LPN at the beginning of her career. She was a home healthcare provider who gave loving care and support through the years. Her compassion for those in her care was unmatched as she became an instant family member to those she cared for in their daily lives. Providing comfort was her ultimate goal in her work life. Sandy was a deeply spiritual woman who shared a close relationship with our Lord and Savior and enjoyed listening to classic gospel music and the sermons of her favorite pastors. Sandy’s greatest accomplishment was her family. She was blessed with a lifelong marriage to her soulmate Leon Etherton. The two shared a special bond that few can ever truly experience in their lives. Their relationship was a joy to behold as they were role models to all of the members of their family as well as anyone who observed their bond. Their love could be felt through all of the ups and downs of life and will continue to live on in the hearts of all they touched. She is survived by her husband Leon and her daughter Lori Etherton Knowles and Son Tony Etherton as well as her sister Ginger Kellum. She was blessed to be the grandmother of three amazing granddaughters Jodi, Abigail and Emily who were the pride of her life. A private service will be held in the spring as the wildflowers begin to bloom at the place closest to her heart, Cades Cove along the Blue Ridge Parkway in the Smoky Mountains “Only a moment you stayed, but what an imprint your footprints have left on our hearts.”
