We are sad to announce that on Friday, December 23, 2022, Sherman Woods Crawford passed away at age 73 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Sherman was born in Jacksonville, Florida to John and Jacqueline Crawford (Interlachen, FL). He attended Woodberry Forest High School, graduated from the United States Military Academy West Point and received his law degree from the University of Miami.
He was predeceased by his wife Nancee Nowicki-Crawford. He is survived by his children Keri (Reginald) Reid, Jonathan (Mariana) Crawford, Matthew (Rebecca) Crawford, and Virginia (Matthew) Raney; grandchildren Riley Reid, Kathryn Raney, and Samantha Raney; sisters Karen Hardin, Margaret Smith Hawes, and Suzanne Harris; family members Louanne Nassif, Marci Keeler, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sherman moved from South Florida to Estoi, Portugal with his wife Nancee in 1992. There they lived together for many years, most recently with their dogs Embora and Pois. Sherman moved back to the US last year in ailing health. His fight has now ended and he can be at rest.
Sherman will be remembered for his love of dogs, his many friends around the world, and passion for UM football and his enjoyment in bringing people together around the table for a meal: fried chicken, gravy on-a-stick, and his love of a well cooked (not well done) steak.
Services will be shared with family and on social media as they are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice.
