Sonja Diane Albertson

Sonja Diane Albertson, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. Sonja was born on August 24, 1945 in Athens, GA to the late Douglas and Edna Sailors. Sonja grew up on a beautiful farm in Athens Georgia. She loved horseback riding on her beloved Honeybee. She attended Athens High School where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Albertson. After Sonja and Jimmy married they moved to Atlanta, Georgia where they both worked at Western Electric(ATT). They eventually settled in Alpharetta, GA where they raised their children Mark and Brian. In 1984 Sonja and Jimmy moved to a beautiful farm in Madison County, GA. In 1990 once their children were grown, they moved to Lake Lanier in Dawsonville, GA. Sonja and Jimmy enjoyed 30 years of life on the lake, boating with family and wonderful friends. While in Dawsonville, Sonja was very involved in the Garden Club, the Red Hatters and many other charitable organizations. Nothing made Sonja happier than spending cherished time with her loving grandchildren. Sonja is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Jimmy Albertson; children, Mark Albertson, Athens, Brian Albertson (Kristin), Rome; mother-in-law, Gertrude Albertson; sister, Elaine Hess; Grandchildren, Peyton Albertson, Jack Albertson, Lily Albertson, Fiona Albertson and Scarlet Albertson; niece, Robin Martin Hallenbeck; nephews Ben Hunter, Sean Hess and Mike Hess. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Northside Hospital Forsyth and Agape Hospice Care A memorial service to celebrate Sonja‘s life will be announced at a later date. Leaf Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
