Stanley White Butler Jr. was born on February 20, 1937, in St. Louis, MO. Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Richmond, VA. He spent the bulk of his school career at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, VA from where he graduated high school. He later graduated from Georgia Tech, majoring in Industrial Engineering. After finishing college, he became a member of the US Army with responsibilities in air defense command.
He worked for over 30 years with Ford Motor Company in Hapeville, GA as an engineer in various capacities. He was a longtime season ticket holder (over 50 years) for Georgia Tech football and basketball. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley W. Butler Sr. & Jane Arthurs Butler and his nephew, David Butler.
He was an outstanding husband, father and grandfather. His priority was always his family. He is survived by his wife, Sandra, his son, Stan Butler (Terri) of Roswell, GA and their children: Jordan Butler & Cameron Butler: son, Charles Butler (Stacie) of Austin, TX and their children: Tristan Butler, Keegan Butler, and Griffin Butler. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, David H. Butler (Linda) of Savannah, GA and niece Michelle Butler of Woodbridge, VA.
Stanley’s second passion was golf. He was a member of many clubs in his lifetime and won several championships as an amateur. He was also a member of the Georgia Senior Golf Association and participated in many trips and tournaments with the group.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dunwoody Baptist Church or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation in the name of Stanley Butler. Details below:
