Sydney Lynne Colby

September 14, 1947 — September 11, 2022

Well, I died on September 11, 2022 at the age of 74. It wasn’t one of my best days. I’m leaving behind Gary Baldowski who is my fabulous, beloved husband of 51 years, my sweet, smart son, Dr. Adam Baldowski, a bunch of Colby’s that I love, my wonderful Stamford family, my Dallas friends, my Houston friends and my Georgia friends. I send my special love to the Weavers and the Thompsons. I thank Janette Weaver for being such a great friend, for caring for me and for being such a strong and wise woman.

I lived a great life. I was loved and admired by many. I learned 4 musical instruments and how to speak 3 different languages. I was first runner up in the Miss America pageant, won the Indy 500 twice, sang at The Grand Old Opry and received the Medal of Freedom from President Obama. I also worked with the CIA. I’m not supposed to talk about that but I’m dead so who cares.

I have to go now. Some angel is pulling on my arm while blowing a really, really loud horn. Before I depart I should tell you I may have exaggerated about a lot of stuff. I figure this is my last chance to get a laugh. Be happy. Be kind. Get vaccinated. Bye!

The back story:

Lynne was born and raised in Houston, Texas. She went to “The College of Let’s Party Your Ass Off” for one year, got married and moved to San Diego. One year later divorced and moved back to Houston. She came with her girl friends to a party my roommate and I were having and lust at first sight. After lust came living together, then came marriage and then came lust again. That caused a baby boy and the lust was put on hold but not for long. She became my business partner, our money manager and that made the lust even better. I told her I was going to tell the boss about her sexual harassment and then I remembered — I was the boss —.

I had a great love affair with Lynne. Starting in Houston where we worked all week and danced all weekend. We moved to Atlanta in ’78 to open Eastern Onion Singing Telegrams and we sold it 7 years ago. We basically sang and danced while we worked.

Lynne is a good mother, loving daughter-in-law, a friend you can trust and the kindest soul you will ever meet and a wicked sense of humor. Ooo don’t forget the lust part.

I could go on for hours about Lynne’s attributes but she not would like it so in closing!

“Sweetie I Love You - Hugs & Kisses”

P.S. Teach the angels how to properly do the “Texas 2-step” — I will miss your arms around me.
