She and Leon would host large Sunday dinners every Sunday, where families would come together and play games, eat and have great fellowship with other church members. Thelma opened her heart to the young marines and families at church who were so many miles from their own mothers. Those same mothers would call her to thank her and some made special trips to meet the nice lady who was now a member of their family by love. Some marine families adopted her as their extra grandmother. Thelma would throw baby showers and cater weddings to any young family at church in need. Thelma and her husband, Leon, moved to Canton, Georgia to take care of Leon's elderly parents in 2000. They built a home in Waleska and faithfully attended Sutallee Baptist Church for as many years as their health allowed. She loved her church family. The friends she made at church were an awesome support system in her times of need. The family wishes to extend their great appreciation for your love and support during this difficult time.
