Trevor Raymond Chen

February 6, 1938 — October 19, 2023

Trevor Chen of Kingston, Jamaica, departed this earthly life on Wednesday, October 19, 2023, at age 85, in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Trevor always had a good story to tell, and he knew how to tell a good story. Light-hearted, laid-back, and quick with a joke or a smile, his easy laughter was contagious. He was equally quick to help anyone in need and dedicated much of his time to the service of others. His heart was big, his candor refreshing, and his kindness inspiring. Trevor was a well-loved man and friend to so many. His presence on this earth will be dearly missed.

As a young boy growing up in Jamaica, Trevor liked to have fun. He graduated high school from the prestigious St. George's College in Kingston, after which he chose to stay in Jamaica when many of his siblings had moved abroad, helping to run the family business in Kingston. Ultimately, he moved to Queens, New York, where he lived for many years. A longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Trevor spent countless hours in the service of others, making baked goods to feed those in need and offering his services wherever he could. Perhaps inspired by his childhood island adventures, Trevor’s favorite hobby was fishing. He especially enjoyed taking his family out on extended expeditions of deep sea fishing in Queen Charlotte Isle, Canada. After the passing of his father, Trevor and his mother moved to Georgia to be nearer to his sister and her family. Trevor held many different jobs with Pitney Bowes, Dictaphone, and NCR over his lifetime, but none was more important to him than his family. A parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church for many years, he lived as a witness to his faith through his dedication to family, friends, and his community at large.

Trevor is preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Marie Chen, brothers Karl and Chester Chen, sisters Gloria Lynn Kee Chow, and Rose Marie Greta. He is survived by his sister Marjorie Poy, his nephew Benson Poy (Beth Poy), and many other nephews, nieces, and cousins living across the country and across the world.
