It is with the deepest sadness that on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, Tyler Thomas McDonald, of Acworth, Ga, passed away in a tragic accident.
Tyler was born on December 21, 1985, to Guy and Lorie McDonald, at RAF Lakenheath, England. Tyler was the oldest of the five McDonald children. Tyler grew up in Plattsmouth, NE, where he was very active in sports, Boy Scouts and friends. Tyler had a deep love for baseball and began playing at three years old. Baseball was everything to him even as an adult. He loved to watch any game, but like Guy, was a Braves fan. He excelled at all sports, basketball and soccer being favorites of his. Tyler was extremely bright and a good student, maintaining an A average through school. Tyler was also very active in Boy Scouts going as far as the rank of Life. As a younger Scout he earned every award Cub Scouts had to give, including the God and Country Medal. Tyler's earliest goals in life was to pursue baseball in college and hopefully professionally one day.
As Tyler approached high school, the family moved to Marietta, Ga. Two short years later the family moved to Savannah, Ga. Living in Savannah gave him the opportunity to love the beach. Tyler had a wicked sense of humor and was very proud of his younger siblings. Tyler was especially close to Zane, the second child. When Zane joined the Army and deployed to Iraq, Tyler was so proud of him. When Zane lost his life to the epidemic of PTSD on January 31, 2016, Tyler was heartbroken. He never fully got over losing his little brother and best friend. Regardless of the ups and downs in his life, Tyler was always so proud of his younger siblings achievements. Tyler had a long and loving relationship with Raina Beharry, of Savannah. Together they had two precious children. Tyler adored his children and considered his kids the best accomplishment he had attained in life. Zayleigh Michele McDonald was born on December 10, 2016, in Atlanta, Ga. Colby Thomas was born November 20, 2018, in Atlanta, Ga. Tyler loved every aspect of being a father and was fully hands on from birth. He thought his babies hung the moon, and they did.
Tyler is survived by his parents, Guy and Lorie McDonald Jr, of Acworth, Ga. His three younger siblings: Hannah McDonald of Cartersville, Ga. Charlotte McDonald of Chicago, Il, Jackson and Caitlin (Smith) McDonald of Acworth, Ga. Tyler loved his nieces and nephews: Colton and Paisley McDonald (Whitley), of York, Ma. Everett Zane Sarkodie of Cartersville. Ga and Carson Sky McDonald of Acworth, Ga. Tyler was simply known as "Uncle". Tyler is also survived by his Grandparents, Granna and Grampie, Stan and Carol Smith of Yukon, Ok. His Grandfather, GMac, Guy Thomas McDonald Sr, of Fitzgerald, Ga. Aunt Cyndi Haney of San Antoni0, Tx. Sharon McDonald of Fitzgerald, Ga. Uncles Brad and Michelle McDonald of Tifton, Ga. Terry and Brooke McDonald of Valdosta, Ga. Tyler also has many loving cousins. He had a very close bond to his cousin Heather (Stephens) Miller, of Birmingham, Al.
Tyler is preceded in Death by his Nana, Marie Cunningham, Grandma Bonnie Sue McDonald, and his younger brother, Zane Colby McDonald.
Tyler’s parents will host a Celebration of Life at a date to be determined.
