Wanda Sue Knetig

February 25, 1946 — January 8, 2025

Woodstock, GA

Wanda Sue Knetig passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, at her apartment in Woodstock, Georgia, at the age of 78. She was born to Richard and Agnes Porter in Arkansas on February 25, 1946, and grew up in Killeen, Texas.

After graduating from Mary Hardin Baylor University, Sue embarked on a career in teaching. After college, she met the love of her life, Ed Knetig Jr., in which they were married for 53 years until his passing in 2021.

After a few years in Corpus Christi, Sue and Ed moved to Harlingen, where they became active members of the local country club, enjoying both the camaraderie of the club and their shared love of golf. Their enthusiasm for travel led them to the warm beaches of the Caribbean, as well as gambling trips to Las Vegas and Wendover. Sue was an avid card player and enjoyed “tinkering” with fixing computers, clocks, and other electronics. This curiosity earned her a Masters degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Computer Science.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and dear sister, Beverly Cox. She is survived by her children, Ed Wayne Knetig and Beth Knetig (Scott Busson); her grandchildren, Madeline, Abby, Nicholas, Kevin, and Greg; and her great-grandson, Rowan. Sue is also survived by her brother, C.R. Porter (Violet); sisters-in-law, Dolores Cox and Beverly Dunnahoo (Ben); and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the Merrill Gardens and Agape Hospice staff, who provided compassionate care to Sue for the past year of her life.

A private family service will be held this summer at the Rio Grande Valley Veterans Cemetery, where Sue will be laid to rest alongside Ed.
