Wayne David Chandler

November 28, 1950 — July 15, 2024

Wayne David Chandler of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on July 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born and raised in Norcross, Georgia, Wayne's journey through life was marked by dedication, innovation, and a deep love for his family and community.

A proud alumnus of Georgia State University, Wayne also held a lifelong admiration for Georgia Tech, loyally cheering on the Yellow Jackets. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a remarkable career in the chemical industry.

Wayne's professional journey began with the founding of Southern Industrial Chemicals, a modest enterprise that, under his visionary leadership, evolved into SIC Technologies, a significant player in the metal-finishing industry based in Atlanta. An inventive and dedicated chemist, Wayne developed and patented several groundbreaking products that have left a lasting impact on the field. His work not only advanced industry standards but also set new benchmarks for innovation and quality.

Beyond his professional achievements, Wayne was a devoted family man. His love for his grandchildren was immeasurable, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He is survived by his grandchildren Joey Rose, Michael Rose, Alexandra Motes, Christopher Allen, Stephanie Allen, Samantha Allen, and Ashton Jesse Rose. Wayne also leaves behind a legacy of joy and love with his great-grandchildren Aiden, Christian, James, Hendrix, Jade, and Elora, who brought immense happiness into his life.

Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Theresa Ray Chandler, whose memory he held dear, and his son, John David Hereford. Their passing left an indelible mark on his heart, but he continued to honor their memories through his enduring strength and resilience.

In addition to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Wayne is survived by his stepchildren Lorraine Allen Rose and Robert Allen. His brother and sister-in-law, Talmadge and Kathleen Chandler, as well as his sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Elizabeth Sanders, also mourn his passing, remembering him as a loving and supportive family member.

Wayne's life will be celebrated at a memorial service on Sunday, August 11 at 3 pm at the home of Wayne’s daughter and son-in-law, Lorraine (Rain) and Jimmy Rose. All family and friends are welcome to gather to honor his memory and the remarkable legacy he leaves behind. We encourage attendees to dress casually, especially in Georgia Tech colors or gear.

Wayne David Chandler's life was a testament to the power of hard work, innovation, and above all, love. His contributions to the chemical industry, his unwavering support for his family, and his enduring kindness will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. His spirit lives on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the countless lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
