Mr. William “Bill” Asher Nelson, Jr., of Canton, GA. died Sunday, September 6, 2020, at Northside Hospital in Canton, surrounded by his loving family. He was 73. Bill was born in Queens, New York in April of 1947, son of William Asher Nelson, Sr. and Rosemary Linehan Nelson. He was a graduate of Clemson University, with a B.S. in Textile Chemistry. He had a full scholarship to attend. He was the retired Vice President of Agilex Fragrances. He was a brilliant chemist and loved his work. He was a member of St. Clements Episcopal Church in Canton, GA. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He donated generously to charities for animals and loved his pets with all of his heart. He owned two motorcycles and loved to ride. Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon Desch Nelson, retired teacher at Cherokee Highschool; son, William Asher Nelson, III (wife Andrea); daughter Allison; daughter Heather (husband Michael); four grandchildren, Fred, Rhys, Laith, and Rosemarie; his brother, Tom Nelson of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Barbara Sproles of Boca Raton, FL., and Elizabeth Wilson of Morganton, NC; his closest friend, Sidney Hooks of Canton, GA.; as well as his beloved golden retriever, Cindy Lou Nelson. Memorial Services are postponed until conditions are safer for large gatherings.
