William Dale Roberson (Roby), 89 of Woodstock, GA., passed away at home on May 1, 2022. Roby was born in Patterson, GA on November 17, 1932, and he graduated from Patterson High School in 1949. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force as a Helicopter mechanic serving honorably for 26 years and serving in the Korean War, the Cold War and two tours in Vietnam retiring in 1976. He worked 4 years in Civil Service at Hill Air Force base in Utah before joining McDonnell Douglas and working in Saudi Arabia for 9 years ultimately returning to Layton, Utah to retire. He married Polly Ann Nixon December 25, 1953 in Wichita Falls, Texas. They were married for 45 years. Roby was a wonderful wood worker, a carpenter and gun enthusiast who loved being able to share and teach his craft to others,. He loved working in his yard planting/tending to trees and flowers (he truly had a green thumb). He was a member of the Gateway Masonic Lodge #29 F. & A.M. in Clearfield, Utah for 35 years before returning to Georgia. He was a Master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and a Shriner. He loved traveling in Europe with his late wife Polly and finding all kinds of “treasures” to bring back to the states. Roby loved animals. He always said “All these babies are mine”. It didn’t matter who’s dog or cat it belonged to, they were all his. Roby was the second son of the late Andrew Jackson “A.J.” & Dorinda Dowling Roberson. He was also preceded in death by the love of his life and wife, Polly Ann Nixon; son, Carl Neil Roberson; all four of his sisters, Lona Bell Oswald, Eula Peeler, Melvina Pittman and Geraldine (Geri) Cox and three brothers, Grady, Kenny, and Gordon Roberson. Survivors include one son, David “Wayne” Roberson (Cheryl) of Layton, Utah; two daughters, Jennifer Roberson-Northcutt of Woodstock, GA, Joyce E. Stevenson (Robert) of Woodbury, GA, six granddaughters whom he adored; Bridgette Hughes, Brittainy Harris (Mike), Bonnie Bomar (Shawn), Kyrie Wehner (Josh), Angela Nordin (Jeff) and Nadine Jones (Ryan) and 11 great-grandchildren Regean, Miken, Brittain, Savannah, Simi, JR, Declan, Lochlan, Braylon, Braxton, Ethan and a very special nephew, Stanley Pittman. Roby waited many years for grandsons and he was so happy and proud all these girls gave him grandsons-in-laws and great-grandsons. Dad, you are our hero, the light of our lives and our world has just gotten a bit dimmer. We know you are with Mom and Carl and with you all together you will make our lives bright again.
